Hello world!
February 9th, 2008The first errors on the new server! I’m making progress

I’m transferring 40 GB of data from Germany to California while I write this, that will probably take some ftp overnight sessions
And FTP is the only option since I have no direct interactive CLI. But the transfer doesn’t affect my bandwidth here because I’m directly transferring from my old service provider Strato/Germany to my new shared hosting webspace which is at Godaddy’s in California.
I’m trying to deliver some pages with less errors soonest, I’m curious about the speed when it comes to loading pictures, ads and stuff.
Funny that MacMurph.com will be relocated to the States after six years of hosting it with servers from my office at home, from my so called office in my bankrupt company, from Strato in Germany and now Godaddy in California. Geez, what a ride….
I think it was a good choice. I wanted a solution where I don’t have to take care about server outages and disk failures and now I’ve got that solution, for a less cheaper price that I ever anticipated.
I’m not going to much into details here, but although I don’t have an interactive login, I can do very much UNIX Voodoo like scripts and cron jobs and stuff and so technically, I think, pretty much everything is feasible at the new place which was feasible at the old, so called ‘dedicated-server’.
